Hi, I’m Emi (she/her). I’m an inquisitive person with a love of old places and thoughtful design. My interdisciplinary background includes a master’s in Preservation Studies from Tulane University, and a bachelor’s in Urban Studies and minor in Architecture from Washington University in St. Louis.

I believe Historic Preservation has a critical role to play in the survival and perpetuation of textured environments that anchor the future of our cities in an understanding of the past. I’m passionate about expanding the reach and perceptions of Preservation through ecologically and socially sustainable practices that center relevancy and pragmatism in the face of 21st century challenges. I believe in confronting inequities in the built environment and increasing inclusivity/addressing exclusivities in the field with transparency and creativity.

I’m first generation Japanese, white American, and part of the LGBTQIA+ community. I proudly bring this mix of lenses with me into all that I do.
